Music Monday
I don't know how well I will keep up with this feature on my blog, heck this blog is only a few days old! Every Monday I will try to post up an album that I listened to that day. I generally will listen to more than one album in a day, but I will pick the one that meant the most to me. It may be a new album or it may be an older album. Like that good old box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get!
The album for Monday May 16, 2011 is...
Bizzy Bone: A Song For You
For those of you who may or may no know who Bizzy Bone is, he is 1/5 of the platinum selling, Grammy winning Bone thugs-n-harmony. Bizzy was off and on again with the group. He left (was kicked out, depending on the story) of the group shortly after the release of 2000's "BTNHResurrection." He recorded quite a few solo albums in his time away from the group. He had a string of hard times, homelessness, his battle with alcohol, just to name a couple of his "demons." This album was released in 2008, and in my opinion, was his best work since 2001's "The Gift." Just listening to the lyrics, you can hear how he matured, both physically and lyrically. It was as if all of the years of soul searching and coming closer to God just came out in this album. From his reflections on his relationship with God, and his memories of Bone Thugs, there is just something about this album to me that is very inspirational to me. It was only about a year later when Flesh-n-Bone was released from jail and Bone thugs-n-harmony reunited.
I am sorry that I am not much of a reviewer, but this album is just special to me. As I am doing a lot of soul searching right now in my life, going through my share of hard times, trying to do right by my wife and son, and most importantly growing closer and deepening my relationship with God my Heavenly Father, "A Song For You" just hits the spot. One of my favorite lines of the album is on the track Memories where Bizzy proclaims, "Lord when I'm walking, I'm knowing that You're walking right with me. You defend me and You mend me even when I get tipsy." All I can say is AMEN to that, because God will never leave us alone. We may get side tracked, or fall off the track but so long as we put our trust and faith in God the Father and Jesus his Son, he will make us right again and get us back on track.
