Here We Go Again!

Image
Here we go again. Where are we going, I am not quite sure. In order to get to our destination we have to start somewhere, right? Actually this is more like a restart . You see, since my last post on this blog, which happened to be January 1, 2016, ALOT has changed. In the almost nine years since that post, there has been a global pandemic, huge divisions in this country, and host of different things on the personal level that at times still has me saying, "what the heck is going on?"  I can't say exactly why I stopped updating this blog at that time but taking a stroll back down memory lane shows that I really wasn't all that consistent back then. So I guess you can say that that much hasn't changed. I always have and still do struggle with being consistent. When I started this blog all the way back in 2011, I treated it like I was making posts on social media, after I quit smoking in September of that year, this blog turned into more of a place to sha

Happy 2016!

Well here we are again, the beginning of a new year.  It seems like I was just sitting here composing the first blog of 2015. I had such high hopes and goals for this blog and swore to keep on top of it.  Judging by the whopping two posts that I made last year, I failed...miserably. This morning while surfing around Facebook my feed was filled with new year's wishes a-plenty. Inspirational, witty, funny, sassy, you name it there was a post.  A couple of my favorites:     (Thanks Some eCards !) For many the beginning of the new year signals a time of fresh starts, changes, and resolutions.  Most of the time these changes and resolutions are usually out the window by the second week, and I am no exception.  As funny as these are, there can be some wisdom found in them.  While may not hit our goal weight or kick that addiction or even keep up on our blogs (seriously only two posts), one thing that is certain and unchangeable is God's grace.  It is not about what we can

I am new

As I was driving into work this morning, listening to K-Love   as I normally do, the song "I Am New" by Jason Gray  came on.  It makes sense that since the year is still so young to hear songs about Him who made (will make) all things new by those who have been made new, but this song just hit the spot this morning. The chorus is: " I am not who I was I am being remade I am new I am chosen and Holy And I'm dearly loved I am new " Sometimes we forget that our past does not define us and we are new creation in Christ!  I was inspired by this song this morning so I felt that I would pay it forward and share it with the hope that it may bless you as well.   You are not who you once were and have been made new.  The gift of salvation is free to all who accept it.  (Rom. 6;23; NLT) God Bless

Welcome 2015!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,  the new creation  has come:   The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone.  As I sit and type out this post, the first day of the new year is just about over.  Time certainly seems to be moving by at blistering pace, or at least that is how it seems.   The previous year was jam packed with ups and downs, insides and outs, it feels like I didn't even have a chance to catch my breath!  2014 was a year that brought with it some big changes and with the changes came big decisions too.  We moved, changed churches, made adjustments to a new school. We experienced losses, we were richly blessed with new friends.  We experienced much joy, and many heartaches, but that is now in the past.  Indeed the old has gone! There is nothing like the clean slate that only the new year can provide.  One of the things that also comes with a new year is trying to look ahead and see w

Just something new that I want to try.  I am no photographer, but every once in a while there is the chance to capture the beauty and magnificence of God's creation.  I hope you enjoy! For in him all things were created:  things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;  all things have been created through him and for him. -Colossians 1:16

All things new

Happy September everyone!  I can't believe that today is the unofficial end of Summer.  Tomorrow all of the schools will be back in session.  For some students this will be a welcome change from the lazy days of summer and for others well...well they will miss the laziness.  For me and my household it is a time of newness and change. A few weeks ago we moved into our new home and our life has been hectic for just as long.  I thank God for this change as I believe He is the reason for it, and I also thank God that he gave us great friends and neighbors too.  They were there to help us move, and when my wife and I were drowning in a sea of boxes they threw us a life raft and helped us bring some organization into our home.  While there is still a lot to be done, at least we can walk with out falling over boxes. Tomorrow also begins the first official page of the next chapter of our lives.  On Sunday we had our last service at our former church and this upcoming Sunday we will beg

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time I started this blog, but yet again it has become dormant for quite a few (seven to be exact) months.  Please bear with me as I finish getting myself and the family settled in to our new house.  I have so much I want to share and discuss that it will be well worth the wait. Thank you all for your patience! God Bless!
