I am new

Image
As I was driving into work this morning, listening to K-Love   as I normally do, the song "I Am New" by Jason Gray  came on.  It makes sense that since the year is still so young to hear songs about Him who made (will make) all things new by those who have been made new, but this song just hit the spot this morning. The chorus is: " I am not who I was I am being remade I am new I am chosen and Holy And I'm dearly loved I am new " Sometimes we forget that our past does not define us and we are new creation in Christ!  I was inspired by this song this morning so I felt that I would pay it forward and share it with the hope that it may bless you as well.   You are not who you once were and have been made new.  The gift of salvation is free to all who accept it.  (Rom. 6;23; NLT) God Bless

Welcome 2015!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,  the new creation  has come:   The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone.  As I sit and type out this post, the first day of the new year is just about over.  Time certainly seems to be moving by at blistering pace, or at least that is how it seems.   The previous year was jam packed with ups and downs, insides and outs, it feels like I didn't even have a chance to catch my breath!  2014 was a year that brought with it some big changes and with the changes came big decisions too.  We moved, changed churches, made adjustments to a new school. We experienced losses, we were richly blessed with new friends.  We experienced much joy, and many heartaches, but that is now in the past.  Indeed the old has gone! There is nothing like the clean slate that only the new year can provide.  One of the things that also comes...

God-servations #1

Just something new that I want to try.  I am no photographer, but every once in a while there is the chance to capture the beauty and magnificence of God's creation.  I hope you enjoy! For in him all things were created:  things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;  all things have been created through him and for him. -Colossians 1:16

All things new

Happy September everyone!  I can't believe that today is the unofficial end of Summer.  Tomorrow all of the schools will be back in session.  For some students this will be a welcome change from the lazy days of summer and for others well...well they will miss the laziness.  For me and my household it is a time of newness and change. A few weeks ago we moved into our new home and our life has been hectic for just as long.  I thank God for this change as I believe He is the reason for it, and I also thank God that he gave us great friends and neighbors too.  They were there to help us move, and when my wife and I were drowning in a sea of boxes they threw us a life raft and helped us bring some organization into our home.  While there is still a lot to be done, at least we can walk with out falling over boxes. Tomorrow also begins the first official page of the next chapter of our lives.  On Sunday we had our last service at our former church a...

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time I started this blog, but yet again it has become dormant for quite a few (seven to be exact) months.  Please bear with me as I finish getting myself and the family settled in to our new house.  I have so much I want to share and discuss that it will be well worth the wait. Thank you all for your patience! God Bless!

28 Months of Smoke-Freedom

Image
If have been around since the beginning of my blog, then you may remember that some of my early posts were made about my desire to, and the process of quitting smoking.  If you are new welcome!  I am just writing today to update, since it has been so long since I have updated on this topic, that today marks 28 months since I had my last cigarette!  In the grand scheme of things 2 years and some change isn't a long time but when you started smoking at the age of 13 it is, as Ron Burgundy would say, "kind of a big deal." The one question that I always get asked is how did you do it.  Most of the time this question comes from people who have known me for some time and were witness to numerous attempts and failures, and believe me there were many!  I tried cold turkey, smoking less each day, and the patch but they all attempts...FAIL!  So how was this time different?  How did I go from failure, after failure, after failure?  Simple really, I as...

Happy New Year

It is hard to believe that 2013 has come to an end and we are now in 2014.  I don't know if it is me, but the past year flew by way too quickly!  I look forward to this new beginning and fresh start.  I may not know what this year has in store for me, but I know that as long as I move into it with the Lord at the center I know I that there will be nothing that I can't handle... Happy 2014!
